This past Monday, Clay County Highschool celebrated Veteran's Day with a heartwarming assembly. Despite the assembly being either dismissed or altered for the past few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the school finally regained a sense of normality. There were several guest speakers from past wars, all of them speaking of their experiences and expressing their thanks to the school and student body.
A notable guest speaker that CCHS had not seen before was Jessica Lynch (pictured left), a prisoner of war who survived nine days of captivity. She recounted her time while she was imprisoned during her speech, telling her story of why she joined the army and how it affected her. This Veteran's Day, ensure you honor your veterans and thank them for their service.
Students were also given the opportunity to shake hands with the veterans and express their gratitude, making for a sweet ending to the assembly.
